Members of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys have access to the following valuable resources:
CATA Website – By joining the organization, you gain access to the members-only section of the CATA website, which includes restricted blog posts, and other discussions. CATA also maintains an email ListServ, a private LinkedIn group, a Twitter account and Facebook page.
CATA News – Membership includes an ongoing subscription to the CATA News, a magazine that is published and distributed on a bi-annual basis. The magazine contains articles on significant current legal issues, trial tactics, practical advice for maintaining a successful legal practice, interviews with judges, and more. The magazine also provides information on recent verdicts and settlements, which can be invaluable when comparing the outcome and experts to your own cases.
Luncheon Seminars – Approximately six to nine times per year, CATA sponsors CLE accredited seminars that include presentations by experienced trial lawyers, judges and expert witnesses on topics such as trial strategy and current litigation topics. These luncheons are frequently attended by local judges and staff attorneys, and provide members with great networking opportunities.
Litigation Institute – The organization provides an annual half or full day CLE seminar focused on improving your skills as a trial lawyer. Past seminars have featuring lectures and mock trial demonstrations with a focus group jury. Guest speakers include judges from the trial bench or court of appeals, industry experts, and experienced trial lawyers speaking on current topics that affect your legal practice.
Other Social and Charitable Events – These include the annual installation dinner, a golf outing, sponsored Happy Hours for young lawyers, and other charitable events. In the past, CATA has proudly helped Youth Challenge’s annual Regatta fundraiser, dedicated to sports and recreation for children with physical disabilities.
